Election in the United Kingdom usually don’t affect the rest of the world directly. But the snap election Theresa May just called could. The goal of the election seems to be to both broaden and strengthen her political position. If she wins as decisively as the current polls indicate, then she’ll have more freedom in her negotiating positions; she won’t have to rely solely on her party for support.
